All of us at Levco wish you and your families a safe and enjoyable Labor Day. Labor Day is a day to recognize the contributions of American workers of all industries to the U.S. economy. Many celebrate this “unofficial end” to summer with family, friends, and their community.
Labor Day Fun Facts
The first celebrated US Labor Day was on Tuesday, September 5, 1882, in New York City, planned by the Central Labor Union. Over ten-thousand workers marched from City Hall to 42nd Street and then met with their families in Wendel’s Elm Park for a picnic, a concert, and various speeches.
Soon after that first celebration, the holiday was moved to the first Monday in September, the day we still honor. Congress passed legislation making Labor Day a national holiday in 1894.
